🌍💙 Support Project Colongone School 💙🌍

Education is the priceless treasure that no one can ever take away. I went to my two first grades in Colongone school, Mozambique and later as 26 years old girl i got a scholarship to Salzburg, Austria.
The charming Colongone is nestled in the heart of the Quelimane district in Zambézia, Mozambique, faces the relentless onslaught of climate change. Even in a country where nature's beauty still flourishes, the impact is undeniable and felt deeply within our souls.

Colongone Primary school stands as a beacon of hope amidst the challenges. With its dedicated team of 8 teachers and 13 bustling classrooms, this school is a lifeline for 611 students aged 6 to 16. These children, including those from neighboring villages like Navilembo and Namange, embark on arduous journeys, walking miles each day without breakfast, driven by their thirst for knowledge and the pursuit of a better future. It's essential to acknowledge that Namange and Navilembo have no schools of their own, making Colongone School the oasis that nurtures their dreams, offering not just education but also sustenance, shelter, and an escape from hardship.

However, the struggles they face are immense. The families of Colongone rely on small agricultural plots to survive, cultivating crops like rice, manioc, sweet potatoes, and beans. With limited resources, their lives are marked by perseverance and resilience. This is why our project is of utmost importance, for there is no other support available. We aim to provide the basic necessities that these children and their families deserve, especially in the aftermath of the devastating Cyclone Freddy in 2023.

In this noble endeavor, we are fortunate to have a reliable local partner, Hale Construcoes, led by Eugnelio Buquine, Rupia's son and a devoted father of three. Eugnelio himself grew up in Colongone, deeply rooted in the very soil where these children now strive. His unwavering commitment and personal investments, through his own company, have already made a difference. But the destructive force of Cyclone Freddy caused irreparable damage to the school, undoing their progress.

At present, the lack of clean water, proper plumbing, and sanitary facilities in the village has led to a cholera outbreak, further compounding the challenges these children face. Hunger and malnutrition create additional obstacles, hindering their ability to focus on their studies and dream of a brighter future.

Our project has four primary objectives, driven by love and an unwavering belief in the transformative power of education:

I) To provide access to basic education, empowering each child with knowledge and skills for a better life.

II) To address the essential needs of teachers, students, and families, ensuring access to clean water, sanitation facilities, and the dignity they deserve.

III) To rebuild and rehabilitate the school, constructing sturdy structures using quality materials like stone, standing as a testament to their resilience.

IV) To provide necessary school materials and nourishing snacks, nurturing their spirits and fostering an atmosphere of joy and engagement in the classroom.

But our dreams don't stop here. With your support, we envision a future where awareness campaigns will inspire families to send their daughters to school, breaking the chains of early marriages and empowering them to embrace a life of endless possibilities.

Together, let's take this small step towards transformation. Let's build sturdy school buildings that can withstand the fiercest storms, offer nourishing meals to fuel their dreams, ensure access to proper sanitation, and provide essential materials for their education. Let's create an environment where their spirits soar and their hopes ignite.
